The Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin is a museum of science and technology, and exhibits a large collection of historical technical artifacts. The current Deutsches Technikmuseum began as the Museum of Traffic and Technology (Museum für Verkehr und Technik) in 1982 and was constructed on the site of a 19th-century freight rail yard and maintenance depot attached to the Anhalter Bahnhof in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. Renamed Deutsches Technikmuseum in 1996, the exhibition area was gradually expanded. Today it consists of several buildings with different themes: aerospace, navigation, computing, rail transport, road traffic, photo technology and many more.
The photos in this set are from the large aviation section that contains more than 40 aircraft, from the early days of powered flight to the Berlin Airlift, that are displayed over two floors, with many exhibits suspended from the roof or high beams.
