After the Freeze

Buds open sequentially on most camellia trees, so even though many blooms are destroyed by a freeze, others are waiting to take their place. After last weekend's ice storm, these buds, though damaged by the cold, open daily when the temperature reaches above freezing, only to be destroyed by the next overnight lows in teens Fahrenheit, and minus degrees Celsius.
