We are experiencing a cold January, which is the height of camellia season in the Sandhills. Flowers that open during the 40°F daytime are found bruised and brown after the 20°F nights. This one opened once the sun reached it and the temperature was at the freezing mark. You can see the frost damage on thee outermost petal that had protected the developing bud. HFF
