The Rugged Na Pali Coast
By far the most memorable activity my wife and I did during our week stay on Kauai was to take a doors off helicopter tour of the island. A doors off flight was the only way I'd do such a tour as its the best way to get decent, unobstructed shots of the scenery below. Of course, I'm not fond of heights at all so this was not an easy thing for me to do. Adding to the excitement was the iffy weather we had - high winds with periodic downpours. By the end of the flight I was queasy, windblown and wet but I had a memory card full of images to take home with me including the one pictured above. It was shot just as we flew over the ruggest Na Pali coastline, which is arguably the most beautiful stretch of coast anywhere.
