Old Home, Norwood Neighborhood, Birmingham, Alabama

This neglected home sits in the Norwood Neighborhood of Birimingham, Alabama. Norwood was one of Birmingham's first neighborhoods constructed outside the central city. It was meant to give residents some space from the heavy industry (smoke, haze) in Birmingham. The neighborhood prospered at first as many well-to-do citizens build many fine homes in the neighborhood. It began to decline as many residents moved 'over the mountain' to the communities on the southern side of Red Mountain, away from the smoke and haze of the industrial factories around Birmingham.
