Prostate enlargement and the prostatic urethra

The channel the man voids through is called the prostatic urethra. In BPH this channel becomes smaller and slows the urinary stream. All of the treatments for prostate cancer can affect the prostatic urethra and then in turn cause problems with urination. Understanding the prostatic urethra in th context of the treatment chosen is paramount to a good decision and limits "surprises."
