The poster, which an internet source dates as 1926, was a design for Anchor Line to Gibraltar Egypt and India featuring a colourful design by the illustrator and artist Gordon William Nicoll (1888-1959). An Indian elephant decorated for a festival is being led towards the viewer with people and an historic city gate in the background. H 39.77 in W 25.2 in - lower panel removed held bold text in yellow and pale lettering on a deep blue banner below. Anchor Line (1855-1980) was a Scottish shipping company founded by Thomas Henderson in Glasgow. Printed by Publicity Arts Ltd London.
David had this jigsaw in his collection but sold it in April 2014 (for a large sum of £1400) but soon regretted parting with it.
