Genest Le Colimacon 796pc Miniature Persanne - Rostam Pris Au Piege de Chaghad 4 Group Project DSC00297
Progress at the end of day 4, showing placement on board and pieces in the green tray.
The Persian text panels in place with the two isolated text groups. I spotted the helmet & head overlapping the top panel, but the blue floral area below was a surprise. The tree trunk was confirmed when the black arrow-head and ground with tufts of grass was fitted against it, but I don't know where it fits in the composition. Building the multi-coloured mountain has been slow. There is another piece of multi-colour rock above the lower text panel, which then morphs into the 'blue ground; (in the sense of a background). Creamy beige ground chunk matched the rabbit and a hand and yellow arm. There is a bit of 'straight edge' which might match to the free floating border. I confess that the branch/floral match to the end of the free-floating floral didn't occur to me - and I spotted it in a quick glimpse at Bronwen's progress.
In the green tray the main character's head & shoulders is slowly coming together. I still have no idea where the rock with Genest's snail in fits - I thought the rabbit might be hiding behind it. Golden shields or clothing are not coming together yet, and I can't work out the pieces of the white horse. Scale is not necessarily accurate, or according to Western art perspective rules, in these works. No progress on the black lumps, apart from one fitting into the base of the tree. Bronwen's enigmatic mention of a pink horse led me to try pushing some of the coloured/patterned lumps together in the green tray - I'm not convinced by it yet. Last night I made some hard-won progress in the foliage with dropouts trays - those lumps aren't due to random movement of individual pieces! This morning, whilst I was doing some descriptions on other flickr photos, David managed to fit two pieces into the mountain.
