Details A1 Puzzle Club Liverpool 983pc Modern Father Christmas 31x19in Frances Nash 8
Liverpool Branch A1 Puzzle Club 983pc A Modern Father/Family Christmas, 12pcmiss 31x19in, initials of the cutter unfortunately partly torn away. Address O’Brien, 125 Hartington Rd, Liverpool. There seems to be no line-cutting, although some straight lines can be seen on the reverse. The pieces often have thin long lines. This is only the second from the Liverpool club we have seen.
A fascinating cartoon image which I'd love to understand better. Presumably, the soldiers are WWI and the date is the 1920s or 1930s - with some topical event happening in the Christmas season. A group of people, including Father Christmas holding a stick, seem to be standing or on their knees by an edge, peering and pointing at something below. Two are army officers (the one at the edge might be a woman), three men in civies wearing a range of hats to denote different ages or classes, a small man or boy in a suit/unbelted but with cap - and a person at the back who looks like a cross between a pantomime dame and a Maharajah.
