Two Vintage Versions of Frank Dadds Follow The Drum Incl 981pc A1 Puzzle Club Cut CS 3
A 1914 painting 'Follow the Drum' by Frank Dadd shows a recruiting parade. The patriotic subject matter was highly appropriate at the start of the Great War - see the print labelling details (not quite legible in the photo).
Top Left: This handsome jigsaw appeared at a BCD meeting in Nov 2016, when the owner was having the missing pieces replaced. which will bring it back to its former stunning appearance. The wooden jigsaw is cut in a smooth push-fit style with sinusoidal curves and you can just see cuts dividing the blank into cells. It was almost certainly made by Peacock for department stores Hamleys or Gamages. 32x16in.
Remaining Photos: The cutter CS, has dissected some of the print surround the image, including the titles.
A1 Puzzle Library, Cut CS 981pc Follow the Drum, by Frank Dadd, painting 1914. 34.5x18.5in, repaired by Dave Cooper. It was produced when Edith Williams was at the Shalimar Gardens, Acton address. The photo is not very good but the cut is consistent with cutter CS's known style. I bought this in Sept 2019.
