Three jigsaws from Alan for the Show & Tell theme Music, Dance & Performance:
Left: 23 Waddingtons 500pc Circular Series, ‘Dancing Around The World’, cardboard 20in diameter, 1958. Depicts groups of dancers from six areas of the world – Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australasia, South Seas – with a globe at the centre. The cut is interlocking and annular – a series of concentric rings around five pieces in the centre – sloping shoulders give the rings a frilly look.

Centre: 24 Tanglewood Library no649 250pc Siamese Dancers (photo), 3ply, 12x14in. Fully interlocking jigsaw, with cloud-shaped pieces with many knobs. Library was run by Mrs P Barclays of Rutland and believed to have operated in 1930-50s.

Right: 25 WH Smith 1000pc Symphonia by Bill Bell, an American artist, 69x49cm, cardboard 2000-2010 (estimate). The artist is also a musician and no doubt some of his comic portraits are drawn from musicians he has encountered in his career. The cut consists entirely of opposite twosies and edge pieces.
