BCD House Party 2022 Show & Tell Puzzlewood 1145pc 3-Layer The Little Street by Johannes Vermeer 8
Vermeer is one of Penbleth's favourite artists but she always wondered what was going on behind the shuttered windows and closed doors in his paintings. She commissioned Heather of Puzzlewood to create a jigsaw that was half 3D-enhanced and half fine art 'Advent Calendar' - all the reveals bar one are by Vermeer, and the other is by Pieter de Hooch.
The result is this 3-level 1145pc marvel which measures 24x20in.
This is what Penbleth wrote about her commission to Heather Prydderch,
"I bought the poster and sent it with a numbered tracing sheet to show Heather exactly where on the base to place the little pictures which I had chosen and reduced to the desired size.
Heather cut the puzzle in 3 layers - the base layer, where the pictres are glued, the main puzzle, and the raised pieces including the removable windows, shutters & door. She painted the base layer, which you can't see, to look like the wall of an art gallery, and then cut it into large jigsaw pieces which could be stored in the box. Finally she made and hand-painted the gilt frame, and cut it into jigsaw pieces.
When I asked Heather about the possibility of making this puzzle, I had no idea how difficult it would be for her, or how much time it would take. She loves a challenge, and the result exceeded my expectations, but she said she would never make another!"
