Raising Glasses Three Vintage Jigsaws of Cecil Aldin Paintings 19
Two Cecil Aldrin paintings here give us three vintage jigsaws.
Left & Centre Left: Tuck ZagZaw 270pc A Bowl of Punch by Cecil Aldrin, 15x11in no 0410, originally sold 11s 3d. An earlet whimsy cut with the usual finely characterised whimsies appropriately including a butler with tray.
Centre Top: Vintage jigsaw from Bob Armstrong's 2021 Sale, to the same image as the Tuck and suggesting the collage. Bob describes it as 340pc 'Brewing the Punch' by Cecil Aldin, 2repl 15x11in, interlocking with square knobs.
Right & Centre Right: Parker Pastime 268pc Testing the Port by Cecil Aldin, 11x15i curl cut with some damage and 3pmiss. This is the only one of the three with line-cutting enhancing the clarity of the image. Another fine whimsy cut, this was sold by a BCD member for renovation, on behalf of a friend in Oct 2020. good opportunity to compare Tuck and Parker whimsies.
