Liberty Pacific Dilemma 1
I choose Liberty Puzzles almost entirely by the flair and design of their cuts. I had an American trip due in April 2020 during which I had planned to get some puzzles from my Liberty wishlist, which had a backlog of three or four seasons at that stage. The trip was cancelled and Liberty stopped sending puzzles to international customers - a situation which still exists today.
I have had lots of time to study the four seasons of collections that have emerged since then and review & revise that list, but window shopping is rather frustrating. Here are another pair of jigsaws with great cut designs and a Pacific theme. Which would you choose?
Left: Liberty 723pc Hawaiian Islands. I love this cut with its wave & sharks' fin border and all the fantastic fish, warrior and ethnic whimsies. I'm not so keen on the image and I don't like the fact that the fish correspond to their positions in the design but are larger than them in a sort of mismatched faux line-cutting. (An even more extreme version of this can be seen in Tower Bridge in Pool of London.)
Centre & Right: Liberty 567pc Matson Lines Hawaii. Another great cut with mask, dancing couple, mask surfers and palm trees. Not quite so interesting as the panoramic cut but still very nice and I like the image slightly better.
