Three Chad Valley 250pc Cavalcade Procession of the Magi by Gozzoli 4
Lower Left: I bought my copy of this jigsaw in Feb 2013, very early in my collecting of vintage jigsaws. The rear view shows the extent of the line-cutting. It had 1pcmiss costing me £17+pp and at that time I think I'd already bought the Liberty jigsaw showing the Young King. Having lent it to a neighbour I thought it was time to do it myself, so I could include it in a bundle to be sent for replacement pieces.
I was impressed by the quality of the ply, thick 5-ply, and also by the line-cutting - although limited in its extent - which I don't believe is common in Chad Valley jigsaws. Some of the pieces were extremely large. I started the jigsaw from the sky, then the foreground and finally the middle.
My records contain two other examples of this Chad Valley jigsaw, both with some line-cutting - May 2013 - resold Feb 2016 £11, Aug 2014 £26.
Top Left: This copy sold in Aug 2014 shows similar amounts and placement of line-cutting as in my example. The Young King's face is conserved.
Right Column: Two details of the other jigsaw from 2013. There is line-cutting around the Young King's horse but his face has been damaged by a cutting line.
