Miss K Rutherford Library 902pc Daniel & the Lions 5repl 19
BCD member Per-Martin Andersson won this jigsaw recently on ebay and asked about other Miss K Rutherford jigsaws with lettering in them.
"A very difficult jigsaw puzzle cut by Miss K. Rutherford. 902 pieces with some color line cutting. 68,5x48 cm (18x24in). Some pieces looks like letters. Is there a secret message or meaning? Is that common for her cut? Painting made by Alan Wright and Vernon Stokes."
Here is a collage of the selling images, which allows you to study the cut more closely and see some of the letters he picked out below. I have seen two other Miss Rutherford Library puzzles with letters in them. One is my own 'Dandelion Pasture' (JKXY) and the other 'Roman Children at Play' (an E and a tree, but I don't have much information about this jigsaw).
The jigsaw comes in the usual flat square brown cardboard library box and was no 708 in the library inventory. It is a Biblical subject, and I've seen a number of her library jigsaws with similar themes, including one done recently by David P (see below).
"963pc Miss K Rutherford Library, Liverpool labelled ‘Joseph’ which is incorrect. The picture is of ‘Elisha & the rich woman of Shumen’ (2Kings Ch4). It is the story of a ‘well to do’ woman who shows great kindness to the prophet, Elisha. The image is of Elisha asking her what she would like in return for her kindness. He grants her the birth of a son in the next year. Unfortunately, the story doesn’t have a happy ending. Mostly push fit with one discoloured piece in the table. All original and complete, bought at the 2020 BCD House Party."
