BCD Virtual Meeting Holiday Destinations END Eric Pedley British Library 594pc Norfolk Broads 10
Update July 2023
Two years ago, during a lull in the pandemic, we were dreaming about going on real summer holidays in our June 2021 virtual meeting. This 594pc retired British Library puzzle sold for a pretty penny (£320) in July 2020.

July 2021:
Photos of Holiday Destination jigsaws were uploaded before and well after the official end of the virtual meeting, themed Holiday Destinations. Don't miss them!
Unfortunately my own efforts on the holiday theme were reduced by a real holiday and by the need to get a jigsaw assembled for the Puzzle Parley show & tell by Terry Walters. Not that it was a hardship to do that fabulous jigsaw -- but it meant than many of my themed ones weren't started, and writing up the June event has delayed puzzling further.
This beauty, was cut by Eric Pedley for the British Jigsaw Library (no 5980) and shows a happy party sailing 'Joy' on the waterways of the Norfolk Broads, from a 1930s LNER poster. It has 594pc, measures 23x13.5in, is probably from the 1970-80s, and has a fabulous and very neat cut full of trademark Pedley features. The edge, also seen on the jigsaw Owl, is what I've called a sliced mushroom cut, but here it resembles a heavy duty chain or naval rope. There is careful line-cutting around the landscape, boat and figures of course, and bird figurals cluster in the sky. The boat hull has some wavy pieces and there are two of his special spirals, a small one on the reflected green near the left edge and more spectacularly filling the larger white sail.
This great jigsaw was sold by David Shearer c July 2020 for £320. You can see more photos and read about it on Jigasaurus, along with many other Pedley masterpieces.

David has identified the artist as Arthur C Michael, "A little research has identified the origins of the colourful print as being from a 1930's LNER railway poster for "The Broads", promoting "200 MILES OF SAFE INLAND WATERWAYS" and "HOLIDAYS AFLOAT £4 PER WEEK".
