Four Small Victory Dovaston Period Scenes c350pc 1

Post Script for BCD Just Jigsaws Group:

Back in Feb 2019 I wrote an article in the magazine about Victory Gold Boxes (Victory Gold Boxes - Why are some more Desirable?). The photo accompanying the article was of the boxes, with a hope that someone may have worked out a packaging design timeline. This photo shows the sort of variation in cuts in a smallish jigsaw size - my other comparison photos have been in larger sized jigsaws.

I put this together after some discussion in the private facebook group, 'The Den of Discerning Dissectologists', which is restricted to jigsaws of fine art images.

Another comparison of four Victory Gold Box Puzzles to show the variation in cutting quality and the Super-Cut range. These are all period scenes by Margaret Dovaston. I think to be worthwhile, Super-cutting needs to be at a minimum piece count of 400pc - or the image needs to be highly suitable and very well cut.

Top Left: 400pc Super Cut with shapely whimsies, line cutting, wavy edge

Lower Left: 300pc Super Cut with few whimsies, line cutting, wavy edge

Top Right: 400pc Standard Gold Box (Artistic), with more regular strip cut and moderately shapely whimsies.

Lower Right: 350pc Standard Gold Box (Artistic) with some line-cutting and well formed whimsies. Likely to be earlier than top right.
