Original Puzzle Club - Two Versions of Landseer's Shoeing The Old Bay Mare 4

BCD have a project to identify and record all known jigsaws made from Pears Annual paintings. If you can help with information and/or photos please let me know.

Two versions of Sir Edward Landseer's painting, 'Shoeing the Old Bay Mare', which appeared in the 1899 Pears Christmas album.

Left & Centre: I took this jigsaw to the 2020 BCD House Party, but there wasn't enough time to attempt it. The 521pc push-fit is cut from thick ply and is jigsaw is housed in its ‘Original Club’ brown box with faded label. The club proprietor is listed as Mrs Aldon Roen(?), 110 St Martin’s Lane, London, WC. The jigsaw measures 50x37cm, and there appears to be one replacement. It came from the collection of BCD member, stgenix.

Right: Another vintage jigsaw sold recently from the collection of the late Dave Cooper, This 266pc semi-interlocking jigsaw measures 18x23in and has large interesting shaped thin pieces.

There is another small vintage version on Jigasaurus:

Upper Centre: ZigZag 200pc Shoeing the Bay Mare, Landseer, 1899 Pears Annual, 9 1/4" x 11 1/2" so cut from a vintage print, but not the Pears one. "The price of 5/- for a 200 piece puzzle helps to date this puzzle to pre-1915." see Jigasaurus.
