BCD Two Contrasting Jigsaws Holtzapffel & Cheatwell World's Smallest DSC07489

This jigsaw was sold in the auction of Dave Cooper's jigsaws at the November 2019 meeting. The solid wood pieces are chunky and are housed in the original wooden box with sliding lid. David Shearer (of Jigasaurus fame) says that the Holtzapffel jigsaws packed in cardboard boxes have survived better, because the wooden boxes are prone to attack by woodworm, which can then spread to the pieces inside without the owner noticing.

Lot 16 – Holtzapffel, Augustine preaching before King Ethelbert, 600pc, complete 3repl, 23.5x17.3in, wooden box, est£120 – START £140 MADE £180

(There is another example of this jigsaw on Jigasaurus.)

The cardboard jigsaw on the other side of the table was not completed at the House Party. It is the 1000pc Cheatwell Games Machu Picchu, in the World's Smallest series. The pieces are tiny, making it only suitable for one person to work on at a time.
