Detail Vintage 366pc The South Notts Hunt DSC07441

Vintage 366pc The South Notts Hunt, 15.8 x 10.5in. Box has ‘Taylor, Alma Villa, Partridge Green’.

Interesting cut with triangular knobs. Image a 2-page magazine spread - with printed text on the back.

The jigsaw blank has been quartered and strip cut with cutting lines of tight triangular zig-zags - almost like the teeth of a zip. The strips have been cut into complicated pieces producing a decorative effect.

I think the image is a painting rather than a photograph but I'm not completely sure. I don't recognise the many-gabled stately home, but there is a steepled church quite close by.

The South Notts country was hunted as far back as 1677 by the Earl of Lincoln. In 1775 it was hunted by John Musters, the great-grandfather of John Chaworth-Musters who re-established the hunt in 1860. The country lies in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The best stone wall jumping country is in the Belper area. The Notts side includes areas north and south of the River Trent and includes arable farmland, grass and forestry areas. The kennels are at Epperstone.
