Rear Vintage 400pc Boys Playing Football DSC07434
The rear of c400pc Boys Playing Football by EP Kinsella 44x34cm, created from a double page spread. A push fit with the main subjects line-cut, the background long-armed pieces have few knobs. Now with 3repl - believed to be c1910 - the paper has lifted and been lost on quite a few knobs and a few have sustained damage to the wooden ply also. A clearer picture emerges when you photograph the back - including a knot hole in the board.
I completed this jigsaw on returning from the BCD meeting but there was a long delay in getting it photographed and uploaded. A humorous image by EP Kinsella of a bemused boy goalie who lets one slip past him - the insets show left and right ends of a double image.
KINSELLA Edward Patrick 1874-1936 Poster designer and illustrator known as E.P. Kinsella. Born in Liverpool of Irish roots, he is described on the 1901 census as an 'Artist book illustrator'.
There is a very interesting biography webpage which details EP Kinsella's career and particularly his involvement with early animation films and film making.
