Lot 11 – Holtzapffel, The Dancer (Ballerina),255pc, complete, 12x16in, boxed, est £120 – MADE £240
This lot made a very high price considering its modest piece count. I bought a copy of this jigsaw recently with no photo of the made up jigsaw which was listed by mistake as a Figure-It-Out jigsaw. When it proved to be rectangular I negotiated a significant refund. You can see photos of my jigsaw in the meeting album - the next two photos in it.
Dave Cooper, cutter, enthusiast and former owner of the British Jigsaw Library, passed away this summer and his most prestigious jigsaws were auctioned at the November 2019 BCD Meeting. 31 puzzles formed 28 lots - all of which were sold. Tom Tyler was the auctioneer and overseas and absent members were able to make postal or 'book' bids. Most of the lots were sold to UK members, but some will be leaving Britain. A high proportion of the lots were vintage Holtzapffel jigsaws - guaranteeing a high turnout for the meeting.
