This was the third Holtzapffel Figure-It-Out jigsaw in the auction, with about half as many pieces as the other two. I was expecting it to make more than it did.

A copy of this jigsaw appeared at the 2015 BCD House Party, when one of the largest gatherings of these F-I-O puzzles in the UK was brought together by BCD members.

"Bunty Pulls the Strings. The solid mahogany backing for this "Figure=It=Out" jigsaw puzzle, combined with its cutting style indicate quite early origins for this example. It is included in the company's pre-1922 price list, as one of four available titles in this 175 piece format at 6s."
Another theatrical artwork showing Graham Moffat's 1910 comedy "Bunty Pulls the Strings". The costume matches that of actress Molly Pearson, when her photo appeared on the front cover of 'The Theatre' magazine. It was a huge hit in London’s West End, running for 617 shows at the Haymarket Theatre in 1911. In reviewing the play when it debuted on Broadway late in 1911, the New York Times classed Moffat beside J. M. Barrie and wrote, "it is the freshest and most wholesome thing that the theatres in New York have housed since the days of Peter Pan." The Scottish actress Molly Pearson played the title role of Bunty in New York. The comic actor James Finlayson played Bunty's father both New York and in London.
The play was made into a film in 1921. Leatrice Joy stars as a Scottish lassie who has her hands full solving various domestic problems. Her brother Raymond Hatton faces a prison term, and she herself is in danger of losing boyfriend Cullen Landis. All ends happily with a double wedding ceremony, with Leatrice's father (Russell Simpson) not only giving the bride away but taking a bride himself.
