DSC01756 BCD Mtg Children at Play Show & Tell Table adj

The theme of the BCD Meeting in Nov 2019 was Children at Play.

Post Script: You can find the show 7 tell listing of this meeting in the discussion thread of the BCD Just Jigsaws flick group.

A beauty from Sweden was posted by Bibbi in Jan 2024 which is perfect for this theme, so I've posted it below.

On the left a favourite antique jigsaw, with its separate guide print, which shows Trades (including the only known depiction in the bottom right coner of a 'Map Dissector' or jigsaw cutter). One piece is a replacement - just below the top right corner.

In the centre is a large shaped jigsaw showing four running playing girls with its brown mock-croc box behind it.

A Junior Waddington circular cardboard jigsaw (180pc, 12in diameter) is on the right. Its subject is The Children's Party and it can be seen on the Waddington's Junior Circular jigsaw page of Jigasaurus. The owner thought that it would be difficult for children and that the flimsy cardboard would mean that most jigsaws would not survive beyond the first outing.

On the lower level are two beautiful vintage jigsaws. The one on the left has 500pc, the artists initials appear to be CLB, and it shows Japanese children playing under cherry trees in blossom. On the right is a Tuck ZagZaw, 420pc cut in the later earlet interlocking style. The image is a painting by WS Coleman, Little Fisher Maids.
