Three York Superimposed Jigsaws 6

A rare York Superimposed Puzzle, in which selected areas of the jigsaw are line-cut and raised up using an additional layer of jigsaw behind the main puzzle, was brought along to the BCD Meeting with theme Birds in Sept 2019.

Here is a collage from my files of this series, including my 400pc The Last Furrow, the possibly incomplete 2015 150pc Disputed Possession (detail shown here) and a 180pc Good Morning. The 400pc The Last Furrow jigsaw has two pieces of the yellow raising area absent.

Here is David's entry for the series from Jigasaurus, which has three examples, including the 180pc example 'Disputed Possession', by artist Park, measuring 8x10.5in:

"Examples from the "York" series of "New Superimposed Jig-Saw Puzzles" seems likely to have been relatively short-lived. They are thought to have originated during the 1920's-1930's, offering a very stylish adaptation from the norm of two dimensional puzzles, by raising subject areas on an accurately-cut backing to give relief to the puzzle.

No manufacturer name appears on the box, but they are promoted as "ALL BRITISH"."

(The other examples are 180pc Feeding Time (Birds), and 150pc Treasures of the Shore.)

The detail of the eagle above shows an ebay selling image from 2017, identified as a York Superimposed Jigsaw by the seller, complete with original box, but with no indication that the yellow raising pieces are present. I wish I'd bid just on the off chance that they were there!
