Wentworth 250pc The Pride of Africa Crossing the Victoria Falls Bridge DSC02592

Wentworth 250pc The Pride of Africa crosses Victoria Falls Bridge into Zambia on the annual July trip to Dar Es Salaam. The jigsaw is based on a painting but I can’t read the signature on the box or on the jigsaw. The cut has some interesting railway-themed whimsies.

Rovos Rail still runs luxury trips: “The Rovos Rail Pride of Africa features wonderfully appointed carriages that can carry a maximum of 72 passengers in 36 superbly appointed suites. Cape Town to Dar Es Salaam trip 2020, 22 days from £14,000.”

I have visited Victoria Falls twice in my life. On the first occasion in May the Zambezi was in full spate and we were drenched in the rain forest. We walked onto the bridge, which had two lines separating the countries - at that time Zambia and Rhodesia. In 1997 it was the dry season and water flows were disappointingly low. We saw people paddling in the shallows and bunjee jumping off the bridge. It would have been great to have taken a flight to see views like this!
