BCD House Party Tackling the Tuck DSC01862

One of the first jigsaws to be emptied out of its box at the BCD house party was this 1250pc Tuck ZagZaw jigsaw, 'The House of Lords'.

The mass of pieces look quite intimidating, especially with little working room on the table. Not much progress was made, but it was fun to look at the variety of figurals. I like the ladies leg! It would have been good to work on this jigsaw as the largest push-fit Tuck I've actually assembled to date is a 200pc

The painting, dated 1880 and in the Parliamentary Art Collection, shows Disraeli Addressing the House of Lords by Frederick Sargent. It is believed to have been commissioned by Tuck, who displayed the original in their offices. Sargent completed a very large number of individual portrait studies for the commission, which depicts 250 people including the Prince of Wales. The painting was sent to Paris to create exceptional quality prints, sold with a guide identifying those present, which sold for 42s.
