Holtzapffel 250pc The Dancer Pears 1921 Septimus E Scott DSC02464
This is the jigsaw that I bought recently on ebay which was described as a Figure-It-Out in the listing. There was no assembled photo, only a photo of some pieces which included the face and an apparent corner and two straight edges - but that was not inconsistent with a shaped jigsaw, especially given the small piece count.
Later, checking other photos of Holtzapffel packaging slips, I was suspicious that the label didn't state FIGURE-IT-OUT. Eventually when I opened the box and saw the number of straights my suspicions grew and assembling the jigsaw confirmed my fears. At least is complete...
It was part of a hoard of four Holtzapffel jigsaws discovered in a trunk. Bronwen's new Cornish scene was one of the others and another was a genuine Figure-It-Out - Dick Whittington.
I need to discuss this with the seller, since Figure-It-Outs are much more valuable than a small plain rectangular jigsaw.
