A collage of AVN Jones jigsaws with an Australian subject.
The four details on the left show a 17x11in jigsaw, 300pc Surf Bathing by Spotlight, Sport of the Australian Summer by F Matania. The box has a large colour guide photo, surrounded by white. The three images in the top right show the complete 150pc jigsaw of the same image, the rear and part of the front of the box with seals. The 150pc jigsaw measures 14.5 x 8.5in and the image is more tightly cropped than the 300pc. The box also shows a paper wrapping folded onto the guide image with neat envelope corners.
The small image in the lower rt corner shows a 150pc jigsaw from the South African Series - Surf Riding. The very small image shows the style of the box with small black and white guide image. Sometimes the small image is of a different jigsaw in the series.
Another early SA series box lists 3 surfing subjects within the 14 jigsaw range on the back of the box. The box states it is no 2 (Surf Riding at Muizenberg, The Queen of Cape Coast Watering Places). The others listed are No5 Surf-riding and 14 Surf or Smooth Water, the Ocean Beach at Durban.
