BCD Mtg Two Genest Le Colimacon Jigsaws 403pc 436pc DSC08059

The reverse side of wo jigsaws by Genest Desfosses, Le Colimacon. Both puzzles show line-cutting, interrupted edges and divided corners.

On the right is a poster designed for the 1924 !st Winter Olympics at Chamonix by Francisco Tamagno. Genest cuts in low density plywood, often very small pieces and using adventurous cutting styles, including his trademark snail which is climbing up the mountainside. The Olympics poster was one from the middle of his cutting stack, so it is not quite as accurately line-cut as most of his work. When solving the jigsaw I started with the text and then the figures.

The Mucha poster for Biscuits Lefevre Utile on the left was started at the last BCD meeting, transferred carefully to a portapuzzle and finished at home (most of the central area was my work). The snail is crawling along the edge of the title, just above the word BISCUITS.
