The 141pc laser-cut plywood puzzle by GoAnywhere, which has five oriental-themed whimsies, split corners and a subtle curve to the top edge (making the top corners less than 90 degrees).They class it as a level 3+ puzzle, because it has a second puzzle within it - 19 random pieces in this puzzle fit together to form the outline of a Tang Dynasty style horse. The whimsies did not make the puzzle much easier, since most had quite smooth outlines - only pieces next to the serrated edge of the fan were very distinctive.
The image is the centre of a large piece of Chinese export porcelain dating from the mid 19th century. It is in the Rose Medallion style with beautiful and intricate decoration.
One of the figurals is a Chinese character that is used in both China and Japan. In Mandarin it means “patience.” In Japanese, “perseverance”.
