True days and blue days
Today I walked my partner's Retrievers while she sat a bedside vigil for her mother in law on end of life care with her daughter,
At the park there was much bird activity and I took a lot of photos with my free hand.
I like the blueness in this photo. There's no editing, and the slightly blurred focus on the top bird within the framework of the well defined trees give it a vaguely surreal, almost cinematic mood.
As we walked back along the main road I was all too aware of the relentless momentum of traffic. The near constant movement, lights, noise and polluted air, the sense that we are so often striving to be somewhere else other than where we are right now.
Later that evening I sat with my partner and her daughter with the woman who in this life has been a mother in law and grandmother to them but also so much more.
A beloved friend, a confidante.
There was a magic about the three generations of women when they were together that I feel honoured to have witnessed. A uniquely loving bond.
There's sadness about the imminent passing of this dear lady for sure and she'll be missed.
But there was something uplifting about us being totally present in her company tonight that we experienced an energy so profound, so all reaching that we're left feeling incredibly blessed and humbled.
