Irrational Exuberance (Gibraltar)
The 1960 German-built, 1007gt, 80m former ferry Irrational Exuberance (Ex Hein Godenwind, Nordsee I, Estrella) had been sold for to an American business for conversion into a yacht. This never materialised but the vessel was arrested by the Port Authorities in 2005 over non payment of fees. While alongside the Detached Mole in Gibraltar on 27/12/07, she started taking on water. She was towed to No 1 Jetty where she later sank and settled on the seabed. A salvage operation was mounted by the heavylift crane ship TAKLIFT 6 on 24 November 2008 and the vessel was lifted ashore at the South Mole, where Cammell Laird shipyard dismanted the remains.
