Drone Trapping Brood Frame
This beeswax frame has a gap at the bottom for the bees to make drone brood cells which are slightly larger than worker cells. The varroa mite, a pest of honeybees, prefers its breeding life cycle in drone brood rather than worker brood. When the drone brood is capped the wax is cut away and destroyed in the hope of breaking the life cycle of the mites.
