Taken on the 05/10/2012 at 17:51:10Hrs BST , using a Nikon D3100 camera with a Tamron AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di LD MACRO 1:2 lens.
The original lighthouse was built in 1304 but
in 1944, was completely destroyed by the withdrawing German forces. But it was rebuilt in 1956 following the original design and using for the outside facing as many original stones as possible.
It is said to be the oldest existing lighthouse in use on the Italian coasts still in use and has been declared a national monument.
