Week 52 - My Story

I took this self-portrait while sitting on the front porch of my parent's home. There are many stories in this picture for me. That beard was the first time I've grown one as my occupation in the military requires that I be clean shaven. That house holds many stories for me, my wife, and now for our kids. But what it means for me right now is roots. In the Army it is easy to feel listless and rootless but returning home to family is a reminder that no matter where the military sends us there is a place we can go back to. The picture also represents a hope that someday, when life pulls us away from the military, that we will find our own place to put down roots too.
