This is a Aloe polyphylla, or Spiral Aloe. The plant is native to the Drakensberg mountain region in Lasotho and South Africa. Surprisingly they are used to cool summers, and are usually covered in deep snow in the winter. This is a small one, as they don't adjust well to being out of their natural habitat.
