eek!
Our laptop has been playing up again, after the utter trauma of the hard drive being deystroyed last year and nearly losing years of precious photo's, I decided to take action. Can't aford to get it done properly, so it was DIY time. After a bit of research it seems the most likely cause was simple overheating, caused by A: crap laptop design (thanks DELL!!) and B: dust build up.
Backed up all the photo's on the external hard drive I was given for my birthday, then opened the bugger up, removed the heat sink, cleaned off load of dust and replaced. Very nervewracking, but it seems to have worked and with no ill effects, hurrah. Hopefully tomorrow the cooling pad I ordered will arrive to help with the general crapness. Phew!!
Took this just incase things went a bit pearshaped putting back together.
