DPhil Networking Event in Media and Film Studies at Sussex University

Many people wanted more after the "Academic Speed Dating session" I did at the department's Research Day in June, so I organised this event for all DPhil students in the department last week and it was great fun! The first activity was inspired by Hugh Davies great 'map me' project and was a bit of a warm-up activity where we could find out who is supervised by whom in the department.

For the second activity we all produced some quick and colourful mindmaps about our PhD project, including "PhD in a nutshell", "PhD worries" and "Would like to join forces with other DPhils to...". This was really successful as we took turns standing at our posters and wandering around chatting to the poster owners - and suddenly it was really late and everybody had to dash off.

There's a little bit of wine, beer, soft drinks and crisps left over. Who would like to organise the next event so we can finish the drinks? Email me!
