Now that the temperature is dipping into the high 50's-low 60's at night, the corks get placed in the openings to help keep heat in the hive throughout the evening.

This afternoon, I removed four of the corks so the girls could efficiently go about their business with the drones and such. This group is busy chewing the propolis off of one of the corks. When the corks are in place, the bees apply propolis to help seal off drafts.
