I am very impressed by the Sony Nex7: it is a very close second to the Nikon D800 FF. What surprises me is how poorly the Leica M9 FF performs on jpg.

In raw mode, The Sony Nex7 is sharper than the Nikon D800. What surprises me is the Leica M9 is only 3rd best. What impresses me is just how good is the Nex7 with the Sony kit lens.
The Nex7 kit sells for about $1250. The XPro kit for about $2400. The D800 kit sells for about $3900. The M9 with 1 lens for about $12000. Viewers can decide.

Following above comparisons, I wanted to see how the Nex7 compared against Nikon with APS imagers. Note: the D7000, the D3200 (24mp), and Nex7 (24mp) ALL have the SAME sized APSC image sensor, made by the SAME manufacturer: Sony. So, the results are very interesting indeed: the Nex7 beats Nikon. I expected to see NO differences, but such are easy to see. So, is this collusion? Or simply a difference in firmware or optics? Though the D800 has Sony's 36mp FF imager, the Nex7 (24mp) compares very favourably.

In case anyone wonders, here is the test bench for the shots above. You can see the shots above are from a very small part of the test bench frame.
