Old Dawt Mill

A view of OLD Dawt mill, before the restoration! I've been going through my archives, cataloging all the files not only for dates, but for subjects/descriptions and I came across a set of shots that I had forgotten about, and which were taken in CR2 (Canon RAW) format. Since they were raw files, I was able to process this the way I wanted, and probably not able to have done when the photos were taken in 2008. I have this one printed and hanging.

Dawt mill was built in the mid-1800's in rural Ozark county Missouri alongside the North Fork river, and supposedly named after the family who built it. At one point, old Dawt mill was owned by Alva Hodgson, the same man who had built Hodgson mill, not far away. The mill continued to grind cornmeal until the 1970's. Old Dawt mill has been fully remodeled and the new mill is currently the site of a resort which includes an inn, cabins, restaurant, and general store. There are 5 old grist mills still standing in Ozark county Missouri, Dawt mill, Hodgson mill, Zanoni mill, Hammond mill, and Rockbridge. Hope you all are having a great weekend!
