Annapurna and Machapuchare

www.anindodeyphotography.com

I had three days in this area but needed only one evening to capture the sunset of my dreams!! As I waited on the hotel deck for the sun to set, there was no one else to witness what was unfolding. The sun dipped behind me to the south-west and the lenticular clouds began to form over Annapurna as her peak, jutting 8 kilometers high into the frigid, farthest edge of the earth's Troposphere, broke the flow of the hurricane speeds of the cold jetstream to create the effect you see here. The color of the sky changed rapidly from grey-blue, to yellow to orange!

I was still alone on the deck. No one else witnessed this. What a shame, but how lucky for me.
