Tso Moriri Delta

www.anindodeyphotography.com

I had to trek up a few hundred feet in rarefied air and sub-zero conditions to capture the sunrise over Tso Moriri in Ladakh. The high altitude, about 15,500 ft, made it extra tough but as the sun shone and reflected off the waters of this small delta, it felt truly worth all the effort.

You can see the village of Karzok in the foreground and the small group of tents to the bottom right is one of 4-5 small camps that are built in the summer for tourists. Summer here lasts only about 3 months and then everything shuts down as winter sets in in late September.
