The peaks in the background (highest is Stok Kangri, 20,182 ft) are a part of the Himalayan chain called the Stok Range, peaks of low difficulty that get higher as one goes deeper into the Zanskar Himalayas. They terminate further north-west to the Karakoram Himalayas, home of K2 and other famous peaks in North Kashmir/Baltistan.
