Dawn on Tso Moriri
The gorgeous Tso Moriri or Lake Moriri, located at an altitude of 15,075 feet in the Changthang, or Northern Plains, in Ladakh. The snow-capped peak in the background is Gya, one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the area. Gya borders Ladakh, Tibet and Spiti, remote parts of the Indian Himalayas. I climbed to about 15,500 feet to take this dawn shot. Breathing was extremely labourous and I had to walk very slowly as I trudged uphill in search of the perfect location.
Typical Ladakhi village of Karzok in the foreground.
