Tigress on the Prowl in Ranthambhore

I'm not sure about the open Savannah grasslands of Africa where you can view perhaps the widest range of wildlife on the planet, but here in the thick jungles of India sighting wildlife camouflaged in the dense woods is a test of patience. A tiger safari usually lasts 2.5 hours in a session, morning or afternoon, in which we drive in open 4-wheel vehicles over miles of harsh, often steamy, terrain, looking for the King of the jungle, the Royal Bengal Tiger. The guides have no communication devices and usually only have their own instincts and tracking skills to locate a tiger. Most folks return without having sighted this magnificent animal. So when you do get a chance, you savour it for a very long time.
