Th Summit of Mt. Trishul

The first 7000m peak to be climbed in 1907, Trishul, with its three-pronged peak, is one of the guardians of the outer walls Nanda Devi Sanctuary alongside Mriguthani, Maiktoli and Nanda Kot peaks. She is a gorgeous peak and, while only the main summit can be viewed here, when you look closet, summit II and III can just be seen here above the clouds. At the base of Trishul is the famed mythical lake, Roopkund.
This image was taken in Binsar, a small hamlet about 30 Kms or an hour's drive from the larger Himalayan town of Almora. The head-on view of Trishul is not as great in Binsar as the three peaks are not visible, but a better view can be had further west in Kausani. That said, Binsar offers the most spectacular side-on view of Mt. Nanda Devi!
