St Edmund of Abingdon

Bronze seated sculpture by Rodney Munday representing the college's patron saint, unveiled in 2007.

St Edmund of Abingdon (not to be confused with St Edmund the Martyr after whom he may have been named) was a prelate with a reputation for asceticism who lectured in theology, mathematics and philosophy at both Paris and Oxford Universities, became Archbishop of Canterbury in 1233 and died in France on a journey to Rome in 1240.

Churchyard of St Peter-in-the-East, now the college library.

Seen in the grounds of St Edmund Hall, Oxford, at an "Open Doors" event.
